We learnt from Master Shono Seiki
The senior instructors of the Hong Kong Aikido Club are students of Master Shono Seiki, a legendary figure in Korindo Aikido, who is one of the students of the founder of the Korindo School, O-Sensei Minoru Hirai. Master Shono introduced Korindo Aikido to Hong Kong in early 1970s, the time when some of our instructors started their training.
Hong Kong Aikido Club was first established when Master Shono left Hong Kong in mid-1990s. Its objective is to continue the legacy left by Master Shono -- to introduce Korindo Aikido to Hog Kong public.
Korindo Aikido is unique in its emphasis on body coordination. Its core training includes
- Taisabaki (fundamental body movements);
- Kata (techniques for combat); and
- Randori (free fight in circular movement).
These three components pave the path towards elementary or advanced level of Aikido, which retains many traditional combat techniques and philosophies -- with or without weapons -- of classical Japanese schools.
